The Member for Lingiari, Warren Snowdon, has helped officially open the new multipurpose pavilion and cyclone shelter at Mamaruni School on Croker Island, built as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).
The BER is a key element of the Australian Government’s $42 billion Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long term.
Mr Snowdon said Mamaruni School in Minjilang received $956,834 to construct the new buildings.
"It has been fantastic to see the principal, school staff, parents and tradespeople working together to deliver these important projects and all of them deserve our sincere thanks."
"I congratulate Mamaruni School on their new facilities. The pavilion will provide and excellent new learning space for students and the cyclone shelter will make people feel safer during the wet season.
"Now that these buildings are completed, teachers and students in Minjilang will be teaching and learning in the 21st Century facilites that they so richly deserve," he said.
The Australian Government is investing $184 million in 298 BER projects in the electorate of Lingiari. This is benefiting 124 government schools and 32 non-government schools.
