Kakadu is one of Australia’s most recognisable tourist destinations and a World Heritage listed environmental and cultural site. Today marks Kakadu’s 40th birthday.
We thank the Aboriginal custodians of this land for caring for this country, along with park management, rangers and tourism companies that share and celebrate its spectacular scenery, pristine environment and immense cultural value with the world.
Sadly, in the last 6 years, due to lack of investment by the CLP and Morrison Government upgrades, the National Park’s desperate needs have been ignored and so fewer tourists are visiting Kakadu.
Federal Labor’s Kakadu commitment is crystal clear.
A Shorten Labor Government will invest $220 million in infrastructure and community development projects to dramatically improve Kakadu National Park as a tourist destination and secure the future of the township of Jabiru.
We will make sure our investment in Kakadu National Park commences in our first term of Government.
We want Kakadu to be at the top of the list for Australian and international visitors – only Labor will help make that happen.
Investing in Kakadu and investing quickly, will be yet another stimulus for the NT economy by Federal Labor.
