Congratulations to Santa Teresa (Ltyentye Apurte) on being announced as overall winner of Keep Australia Beautiful 2019 Australian Sustainable Communities – Tidy Towns Awards, at an event hosted on the weekend at Smithton, Tasmania.
Santa Teresa is located 80km south east of Alice Springs and has a population of 650.
The awards consist of 10 special category awards followed by an overall National winner.
Santa Teresa was also winner of the Dame Phyllis Frost Litter Prevention, Environmental Communication and Engagement, Community Health, Wellbeing and Interest and Young Legends: Group categories. They were also highly commended in Resource Recovery and Waste Management.
“This is great news for the hard work of the residents of Santa Teresa and the MacDonnell Regional Council of which Santa Teresa forms a major part. Santa Teresa has been a regular finalist in the Territory awards over the years and this national recognition is well deserved” Member for Lingiari Warren Snowdon said today.
