The Grattan Institute has released new analysis showing that the Liberals are planning new, deep and sustained cuts over the next decade, reaching $40 billion a year by 2029-30.
“The Morrison government would need to cut spending by about $40 billion a year by 2030 to afford its big personal income tax cuts and deliver on its budget surplus forecasts, new analysis by the Grattan Institute shows.” – Australian Financial Review, 16 April 2019.
Scott Morrison and Nigel Scullion need to be honest with Territorians and make clear what cuts they’ll inflict in order to pay for the Liberals’ tax handouts to the top end of town.
The Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison Government has mercilessly cut from Territorians:
The Liberals have cut $41 million from Territory schools.
The Liberals have cut $16 million from Territory hospitals.
The Liberals have cut $15 million from Charles Darwin University.
The Liberals have cut the aged pension for 710 Territory pensioners.
The Liberals have cut penalty rates for over 14,500 Territory workers.
You only need to look at their record to know the Liberals will cut schools and hospitals to pay for bigger tax loopholes for the top end of town.
Between Scott Morrison’s record of cuts and chaos and the fact that Nigel Scullion is abandoning a sinking ship, one thing is clear – you cannot trust the Country Liberals to stand up for the Territory.
This election is a choice between Labor’s plan for better hospitals and better schools, or bigger tax loopholes for the top end of town under the Liberals.
After six years of Liberal cuts and chaos, our united Labor team is ready to deliver a fair go for the Territory.
