Regional universities continue to bear the brunt of Scott Morrison’s unfair cap on uni places.
Reports today reveal that the Coalition Government’s freeze on university places is crippling Charles Darwin University (CDU).
Under the freeze, CDU, the only uni in the Territory has lost $15 million.
When Labor was last in office, we lifted the caps on the number of uni places opening the door hundreds of students around the country to access higher education.
The Government’s cap prevents regional universities like CDU from growing – blocking access to uni for prospective students across the Territory.
It is estimated more than 1,200 Territorians could miss out on a place at university over the next decade because of this cap.
By not lifting the cap, the Morrison Government continue to put university out of reach for young Territorians.
It is important that universities like CDU continue to service regional areas and until the cap is lifted, the future of CDU is in jeopardy.
