The Better TAFE Facilities initiative is part of the Rudd Government’s $500 million Teaching and Learning Capital Fund for Vocational Education and Training. Under Better TAFE facilities, all TAFE institutes across Australia are eligible to receive a grant to undertake maintenance needs, small capital works and equipment and plant purchase. The specific funding allocations and projects for Lingiari are: Charles Darwin University TAFE campuses: - Katherine: $194,708 for construction, refurbishment and procurement. - Mataranka: $86,570 for construction. - Alice Springs: $36,232 for refurbishment and procurement. Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education - Batchelor: $2,000,000 for the refurbishment and upgrade of the Batchelor Campus residential accommodation and the upgrade of the Information Communication Technology data centre. “This investment will benefit not only Territory students through improved facilities, but it gives local employers a skilled workforce and benefits business through the building upgrade work,” said Mr Snowdon. “These vocational training facilitates are fundamental to the economic growth in Lingiari, and gives students the chance to stay in their community and gain a career in fields such as business, agriculture or conservation.” A full list of projects being supported under the Better TAFE Facilities, and more information is available at www.deewr.gov.au/tlcfvet Ends
