The Federal Government has provided $32,000 in support for the inaugural Mbantua Festival, to help the Arrulka Business Aboriginal Corporation in staging their Bush Mechanics Live program at the Festival in early October.

Applications are now open for the Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program, remote communities can share in $9.1 million of federal funding for airstrip upgrades. Applications can be made by airstrip owners such as community groups, Indigenous organisations and local governments in remote areas.

The Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Warren Snowdon has announced a new partnership between the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Canberra Raiders NRL Club to spread the word about the services and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ex-Service men and women can access following their service.

Minister for Defence Science and Personnel Warren Snowdon met 38 of the Army’s newest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander soldiers at the Kangaroo Flats Training Area south of Darwin while undertaking an induction course to prepare them to be Reserve soldiers in the Army’s North West Mobile Force.

Women and kids in Tennant Creek will soon have a new, safe space with the creation of the Bough Shed, with $120,000 funding from the Federal Government’s Regional Development Australia Fund Round Three to the Tennant Creek Women's Refuge.

Ministers King and Snowdon have announced that Yirrkala residents will soon be able to access the world wide web through the Gamarrwa Digital Learning Centre, funded in part through the Federal Government’s Regional Development Australia Fund Round Three.
